Competitive Market Intelligence & Targeting · June 2026

We don't need a bigger map.
We need a tighter one.

Six sectors. One drive-time core. A women-only, combat-driven, 30-minute wedge that no competitor inside that core can match — mapped against 45 real operators across Lanaudière and the Rive-Nord.

01 — Who we are

The wedge is the whole moat

We don't sell access to equipment. We sell a 30-minute, fully-coached, women-only workout that blends boxing, kickboxing and strength in a deliberately no-judgment room. That exact combination is what makes us hard to copy — and it decides who we actually compete with.

Women-only
Removes the biggest barrier in competitor reviews — feeling watched or unsafe. A category, not a feature.
30 minutes
Built for the time-poor woman. Defeats the "I don't have time" objection that kills big-box memberships.
Fully coached
Every session is led — exactly what an open-gym structurally can't deliver at our price-per-experience.
Boxing / kick
Empowerment and release. Pulls combat-curious women who'd never walk into a fight gym.
No judgment
A cultural product — our most-repeated review theme and the hardest thing for a chain to replicate.

So who do we compete with? Almost no one.

The big-box gyms and boxing clubs aren't rivals — they're our lead source. Women who feel judged at a co-ed 24/7 gym, and women who'd never enter a hardcore boxing club, are exactly who we convert.

02 — The territory

Rings, not a map

A 30-minute studio is a drive-time business — nobody drives 40 minutes for a 30-minute workout. So the six sectors aren't one market; they're concentric rings around the studio. Every competitor below is plotted by its real GPS bearing and distance from our door at 111 Bd Industriel. Hover any dot.

Filter by type

Dot size = review volume. A magenta ring marks a women-only operator. The ★ star at the center is us — the only women-only + combat + 30-min studio anywhere in the core.

03 — Market sizing

Where the people actually are

Population by sector (2025–2026 Québec decree), tagged by the ring that should govern spend. Tiers 1–2 hold 130,000+ residents inside a realistic 15-minute drive — far more addressable women than the studio can hold. The instinct to chase all six towns is exactly how a boutique bleeds its budget.

04 — Competitive landscape

45 operators, grouped by the role they play against us

Filter by type or by ring. Almost no one checks both "women-only" and "coached" inside our core — and no one adds combat and a 30-minute promise on top. Ratings are live (stars · review count).

05 — White space

We sit alone in the corner

Plot every operator against the two axes that define our product. The further toward "women-only + coached + combat + 30-minute express," the emptier the field. Our marketing problem isn't differentiation — it's awareness and conversion.

06 — Surgical targeting

Five segments, in priority order

"Surgical" means a small number of clearly-defined audiences, reached in a tight geography, with a message tied directly to the wedge.

1

Time-poor mothers, 30–45

"30 minutes" defeats the time objection; women-only removes self-consciousness post-baby.

Core radius Meta/IG · mom & community groups · referral
2

Active women, 45–60

Lanaudière female median age ~47. Sticky, high-retention. Combat-fitness proven popular here.

Facebook · daytime slots · peer testimonials
3

Returning beginners

Feel judged or lost in co-ed 24/7 gyms. The no-judgment room is the entire hook.

Retarget gym-intent · "first time back" · free trial
4

Éconofitness au féminin defectors

Already chose women-only; frustrated by hours, no coaching, no community.

Tight geo on Boul. Brien · "coached & alive"
5

Combat-curious women

Want the empowerment of hitting pads but would never enter a fight gym.

Reels/TikTok bag-work · "no experience needed"

07 — The plan

Where the dollars go

Geographic priority

Tier 1 · Core — saturate & defend
Repentigny, Le Gardeur, Charlemagne, Saint-Sulpice. The large majority of paid + organic + referral effort. Women ~28–60.
Tier 2 · Reach — conquest
L'Assomption & L'Épiphanie. A dedicated smaller budget against weak 3.1–3.7★ incumbents. "12 minutes, built for you."
Tier 3 · Halo — organic only
Mascouche, central/east Terrebonne, Lavaltrie. No dedicated ad spend; let reputation spill outward.
Tier 4 · Watch — expansion intel
Joliette. Zero spend. Monitor as future territory.

Channel plan — on the stack we already run

Meta + Instagram (hyperlocal · 80%)
Radius + women 28–60 + parent/fitness intent. Separate ad sets per tier so budget can't leak outward.
TikTok (20%)
Combat-curious + younger reach. Bag-work, "30-minute" reveals, coach personalities.
SMS + email re-engagement
The system already running — aligned to the Forfait Été push and the core geography.
Referral engine
Women bring women. The community is the moat — cheapest, highest-converting channel we have.

08 — For the conversation

Five things to put on the table

1
Endorse the ring discipline
Confirm Repentigny saturates its core rather than spreading budget across six towns. This is the central call.
2
Make the women-only-combat wedge the local hero message
We're alone at that intersection in the core — ask for creative and brand support that hammers it.
3
Clarify our protected territory
What radius is ours? It decides how aggressively we work the Tier-2 edges without overreaching.
4
Raise Terrebonne & Joliette as white space
126,000 people in Terrebonne with no women-only combat boutique. A future location — and do we hold first right in-region?
5
Ask for a defector-conversion playbook
How do peer locations convert women out of un-coached women-only gyms? That's our single richest warm pool.

The bottom line

Own the core on a wedge no one else can match — then expand.

Convert the women already raising their hands. Treat Terrebonne and Joliette as the franchise's next chapters, not this studio's ad budget.
